About Rural Black Doula

Hi and Welcome! I'm Doula Jazzmine Brooks, the "Rural Black Doula", and I am certified fertility, birth, and postpartum doula, and Lactation Specialist in Ames/Ankeny/Des Moines and the surrounding area. I am a wife, daughter, sister, furmom (Bleu), foodie, yogi lover, and I'm obsessed with candles. Jai Olive's mission is to center the health and well-being of Black, women, trans, and nonbinary people of color by addressing institutional wellness issues and promoting community-based care. Rural Black Doula Chronicles is a tribute to Alice Walker's 'In Search of Our Mothers' Gardens: Womanist Prose'. Rural Black Doula Chronicles features midwest and southern experiences of Black individuals and families' sense of knowledge, creativity, and liberation. Owner and Founder of Jai Olive Wellness, Jazzmine Brooks, hosts this space to amplify the voices and experiences of those who found their gardens.
